In January, our students will be participating in our Heartland Adventure unit. The Beye School Gymnasium is transformed into an obstacle course that resembles the human heart. Students travel through the course the same way our blood travels through the heart and learn the process in which our blood goes from being deoxygenated to oxygenated and used by our brain and body parts. In addition to learning about this process, the students also learn about how exercise makes our heart stronger and healthier! The Heartland unit culminates with our Jump Rope for Heart activity which will take place during the second week of February. Students will be taking home information on Jump Rope for Heart during the second week of January. The students participate in the event during their Physical Education class for that week and earn a certificate and sticker for participating. Students can earn additional prizes through raising money for the American Heart Association as well. There is no better way to start off the new year with a healthy heart!
